Listen to each shloka and its meaning at your own pace. The same speed control adjusts both the Sanskrit reading and the Telugu explanation, including while audio is playing.

Press Start when you are ready to listen. Your last shloka is remembered in this browser, and reopening the page always waits for you to start. During listening, each new passage begins after three seconds. The Sanskrit is followed by its meaning in Telugu. Pause also stops the countdown; use the arrows to move backward or forward.

The full Saptashati

All 700 traditionally numbered units across 13 chapters are included. This edition groups 22 repeated refrains into ranges and keeps each of the 57 speaker introductions with the verse that follows it, giving 599 reading slides. All 700 traditionally numbered units are preserved. No passage is duplicated merely to make the slide count reach 700.

Chapter counts: 104, 69, 44, 42, 129, 24, 27, 63, 41, 32, 55, 41, 29. Preliminary Kavacha, Argala, Kilaka and other supplementary prayers are outside these 700 units.

The English and everyday Telugu translations explain the Sanskrit in simple language. They explain complete passages, without word-by-word commentary. They are not a critical scholarly edition.

Historical reference consulted: F. E. Pargiter’s public-domain 1904 translation of the Mārkaṇḍeya Purāṇa, chapters 81–93. Read the historical translation. The note on 7.20 also consults the Śabdakalpadruma dictionary entry for mahāsiṃha.
